There is a good reason women originally entered the workforce, and it
doesn't have anything to do with hating men or our children. It has to
do with freedom and feeling like you matter.
What is the life of a homemaker like?
I can't speak for anyone else by myself, obviously, but I can tell you what my life is like.
No one listens to me.
When
you are a homemaker, your opinions become unimportant. You aren't an
important part of society after all. The important ones are those who
work--lawyers, doctors, teachers, farmers--heck, even the kid working the McDonald's counter matters more.
And I hate to sound this way, but it is most glaringly apparent that my opinion doesn't matter when I am speaking with men. To most men in my life, I am basically the lowest a person can possibly be on the social ladder, coming in just above crack whores.
I am treated as a servent by my own family.
When I am at work, however, it is different. People listen to me and respect my opinions. I have a skill and knowledge that others can benefit from, therefor, I am viewed as being an important part of society. And I get paid.
It is a shame that homemakers have been treated this way, because it discourages many parents from staying home with their children. Perhaps someday, the world will open its eyes. But I doubt it.
